Many of our stories
contain varying levels
of bondage and other
D/s activities.

As with all of our stories,
the characters and
events are fictitious,
but the BDSM community
is a very real subculture
of our society.

As writers, we try to
depict the lifestyle
in a responsible way
that offers the best
entertainment value
to our readers. However,
our stories are not
instructional guides.
Whether you practice BDSM
in a relationship is up to you,
but please remember:
Safe, Sane, and Consensual. .

Glossary:

This list is not all inclusive, and might differ with other fetish resources elsewhere, especially since new terms of equipment and positions are created by BDSM afficianados all the time. If you really want to do an in-depth study of fetish terms, try looking it up at Wikipedia or any Internet search engine.

BDSM - An acronym for:
Bondage - Dominance/discipline - submission/Sadism - Masochism

collar - A strap of leather or chain locked around a submissive's neck. Collars are used for restraint as well as a symbol of ownership/commitment. Leather collars, especially if attached to a leash, signifies a submissive in training. Chokers that resemble jewelry are often worn in place of leather collars by submissives (usually pets) in long-term D/s relationships. Outside the club, submissives might wear ribbon in place of the leather collar so as not to draw undue attention. On the other hand, slaves typically are required to wear much more than a collar, such as wrist and ankle cuffs, while sluts often don chastity belts (for females) or Kali's teeth (for males).

Dom - A shortened form of Dominant, representing a dominate male in a D/s relationship.

Domme - A dominant female in a D/s relationship. Also referred to as a dominatrix.

D/s relationship - An abbreviated form for Dominant/submissive relationship.

exhibitionist - A person who enjoys or becomes aroused from engaging in sexual activity in public.

Master - A title often used by dominant males in D/s relationships. Other titles might include (but are not limited to): Sire, Sir, Boss, etc. For females, the title is usually Mistress or Madam.

ménage à trois - An arrangement in which three people having sexual relations occupy the same household. Often shortened to just ménage, it is also known as a triad or triadic relationship.

pet - A submissive person who willingly submits to being a Master's pet/companion for the length of the D/s relationship. While a pet gives up many daily rights to the Master, the pet retains the right to end the relationship. Pet is often used as a term of endearment toward the submissive, but other such terms may also be heard in the club, such as: stud for males or bitch for females.

safe word - A safe word is a previously agreed upon word, phrase, or physical movement that, if used by either the sub or Dom(me), results in the immediate halt of whatever activity is underway.

scene - A sexual act performed either in public or private for the purpose of exhibitionism, voyeurism, or role-playing. If performed in public, it is customary that the voyeurs refrain from activity (verbal or physical) that might affect the scene. In other words, reserve your applause for the end.

sub - A shortened form of submissive.

slave - A submissive person who willingly submits to being owned/controlled 24/7 by a Master, and even forfeits the right to end the D/s relationship.

slut - A title used for submissives who willingly engage in sexual activities (with whomever) at the command of their dominant partners. A slut could be a pet or a slave.

stray - A single member of the club, male or female, who is not in a committed relationship at present.

subspace - A term used to discribe the moment when submissives lose themselves to their arousal—a heightened state of awareness and sensation

vanilla - A term used for sex and/or people who engage in sex that does not involve any form of BDSM.

voyeur - A person who enjoys or becomes aroused by watching others engaged in sexual activities.
